At Chittick's we are proud to boast that we are fiercely independent, Australian-owned, and we continue to contract manufacture the highest quality baked goods for Hopkins River Bakery, The Why Meat Co. & Ka Pies. We adhere to the strictest guidelines under HACCP & client specifications in order to produce the highest quality product possible.

We operate out of large commercial premises in Warrnambool, Victoria and are always on the look-out for opportunities to engage entrepreneurs and other bakers that don´t want the hassle of huge capital investment to enter & operate in the market. Why Meat Co.

Founder of ‘The Why Meat Co Pty Ltd’ Emma White is a consultant based in Melbourne and is a leading Food Technologist. In her consulting role, she was continually being approached to develop plant-based (vegan) consumer products. Recognising the power of this trend, gaps in the market became obvious to Emma, due to the lack of high-quality ingredients in the products within this category. Emma insisted in using only the finest quality pea protein as the protein source in her range of Why Meat Co products. As a mother of two young children, the nutritional profile had to meet the exacting health requirements. The Why Meat Co brand launched in 2019 including stocking a range of plant-based sausage rolls in both gluten free and wheat pastry varieties into Woolworths stores nationally in 2020. Evolving into the ‘#next gen aussie classics’ in 2021, the range expanded to plant-based party pies, evoking nostalgic childhood memories with a very modern twist. Re-invention of old classics is the cornerstone of Why Meat Co so keep an eye on out on the green cow, as the future is very bright.
